The RAHI model for emergency response (MR3P) which comprises of Mitigation, Response, Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Post Emergency management has been effectively applied in providing succor to the internally displaced persons in the affected communities. With the recent warning of Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) on Monday 8th August 2016 of an impending flood disaster in August in eleven states of the country (see link, http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/08/08/11-states-to-experience-flood-in-august-says-nimet/) , RAHI Medical Outreach is calling on authorities and stakeholders to help in identifying higher grounds across flood prone areas that can be used as emergency camps in the aftermath of flood. This among others, the regular food supplies and condiments that will be distributed to the displaced persons and other items ranging from insecticide treated mosquito nets, buckets; mattresses as well as regular fumigation of the surrounded are the high points of the mitigation mechanism.

This we have done in our own capacity and are fully prepared in readiness of any eventuality.

By extension, we seek for partnerships from Government and private agencies that are willing to join us in the aforementioned humanitarian service to our people.

Recall that the prompt identification of higher ground during the 2012 flood disaster, necessitated the setting up of the RAHI Medical Outreach Flood Emergency Relief Camp along the East-West road as makeshift accommodation for the affected people of Patani and environs.

The success of the camp speaks volume having been adjudged as the best and most coordinated private camp at that time. This is a product of a conscious and deliberate effort by the organization to cushion the effect of the flood disaster on the people of the area.

With a high-tech medical team and formidable volunteers as support, a lot of medical emergencies that otherwise would have had life threatening proportions were arrested during the medical mission throughout the duration of the camp.

This is a clarion call for residents in flood prone areas especially the coastal areas of the country to be vigilant and alert of the impending flood, in order not to be taken unaware.
