MEDICAL EMERGENCIES; APPRAISAL OF UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE

RAHI Medical Outreach free Medical Missions across communities in Dental, Eye, Surgeries, medical Check and treatment in partnership with associated bodies or government agencies basically forms the basis of the Universal health Coverage which sets out to deliver health care for to the grassroots and hinterlands.

As in all free medical missions that had been embarked by RAHI Medical Outreach in time past, in partnership with government agencies, individuals and groups to provide medical care for the people, efficient and qualitative medical care has always been the focus. The quality thrust of the organization is to compliment government agencies and other bodies in health care delivery system.

The regular health lectures on oral health hygiene, Eye care and healthy living that precedes each medical mission is aimed at educating the people on preventive measures that will help in maintaining a healthy body state.

Vital signs of the patients are usually taken by the Nurses before referral to the Doctors at the out-patients unit, Dental and Eye units. The Dental unit gives dental hygiene instructions and performs routine extractions and scaling of teeth.

For eye cases that needs attention, visual acuity test are using done to ascertain the regimen of the refractive error that needs to be corrected. Reading glasses and medications are given out in visually impaired patients.

Dr Chris Ekiyor, the founder/President of the organization together with the RAHI team have taken the bold step and the initiative to align with the Universal Health Coverage mandate to ensure that health care is taken to the doorstep of the vulnerable groups in our society.

Beneficiaries of the medical missions have continued to appraise the organization and their partners for providing the opportunity to attend to their health needs through the free medical programmes.
